Are the tours and tastings in groups or private?

Our experiences are small groups, generally a max of 8 guests. If you are interested in a private experience, please contact us at info@swirltheglass.com. (Subject to availability and price difference).

How long are the wine tours?

Wine tours generally leave from Positano about 10:00 and return to Positano about 16:00. Of course, this is dependent on the tour and if you are staying outside of Positano.

If you have ever been to the Amalfi Coast during tourist season, you know the one thing out of our control is traffic! We will do our best to have you spend less time in the car and more time in the winery.

Wine Barrels
Can we visit multiple wineries in one tour?

Winery visits are a little different here in Italy than in some other places like the US. The visit includes spending some time in the vineyard and winery to understand how the wine gets from vine to bottle. We then sit down over lunch to taste the wines paired with local cuisine. You are getting the full experience of one winery's process and the identity of their wines.

That said, we can sometimes fit in a second winery for a tasting only. Please contact us for more detail.

Pouring Wine
Can I join a tour or tasting as a solo traveler?

We are happy to add solo travelers to existing group tours or tastings. (Subject to availability).

Grapes
Are the tours suitable for children?

With our tours, we spend time in the vineyard and winery, then taste the wines over lunch, so the experience is not recommended for young children. We are happy to welcome children 16 years of age and older. To enjoy the wines, participants must be at least 18 years of age.

Chesse and Baguette
Is it possible to do a tour or tasting with Swirl the Glass if we are only coming to Positano for the day?

With our tours, because we leave in the morning, we recommend you are already based in Positano. Public transportation and traffic can often be unpredictable on the Amalfi Coast, so we would hate to have you come in from Rome or Naples and miss the tour.

Tastings are easier to join if you are only in Positano on a day trip. These are in the early evenings from 17:00 to 18:30 so are often a great pre-dinner option.

Red Grape Vines
What should I bring on a wine tour?

We always recommend bringing a camera as you will want to take photos of the beautiful scenery! We recommend wearing layers as some of the vineyards are located at a slightly higher elevation and may be cooler than in Positano. We will walk into the vineyards so we recommend closed-toe shoes.

Wine Farm
It is forecasted to rain on the day of our tour! What should we do?

Our tours take place inside the winery for the discussion on winemaking process, lunch and tasting. If it does happen to rain, you will be covered. If there is a break in the weather, we will pop out to the vineyard. We recommend that if it is forecasted to rain, bring a jacket and closed-toe shoes.

Our tours move ahead rain or shine (but hopefully shine).

Wine Bottle Selection
Can I buy wine and ship it home?

There's nothing better to remember your experience with Swirl the Glass than enjoying some wine from your tour when you get back home. The wineries we work with are happy to sell their wine and have agreements with shipping companies so you will get a reasonable price to send your wine home.

We also have wine boxes available to purchase through our web shop! The boxes include the wines featured in our wine tastings and available in either six or 12 bottle shipments.

Wine and Cheese
Can you accommodate food allergies?

Yes! Please just let us know at the time of booking if you have a specific need.
